The IBM Red Hat acquisition nets its first big payoff with AT&T strategic alliance, multi-year, multi-billion dollar contract. IBM’s move, acquiring Red Hat in order to be the hybrid multi-cloud platform out there, was smart. Hybrid multi-cloud is not only the reality of the enterprise today, it’s the reality of all businesses. The ability to modernize apps, move them to the cloud, partner seamlessly with others, and manage everything in a hybrid cloud environment isn’t rocket science, it’s table stakes. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s on the horizon for these two.

IBM Q2 earnings are in. We had a gain, then a slide, but all in all, they’ve got the right things in place moving forward. The company’s cloud commitment, the unique Z and LinuxONE offerings, and the company’s commitments in areas like Blockchain and AI are all sound positions in important emerging market spaces. Now CEO Ginni Rometty and team need to deliver on growth.

Amdocs: Paving the Way for eSIM Cloud Ecosystem Expansion

The race is on to drive eSIM ecosystem influence among the major players, particularly in upping the operator’s game, and Amdocs is squarely in the lead. Challenges aside, Amdocs is establishing a sales and marketing lead in the eSIM Cloud realm, at least in relation to telco software rivals Ericsson, Nokia Software, and Netcracker. This will be an interesting one to watch.
