Having data-driven goals and achieving them are very different things. Here are 5 roadblocks to achieving your data-driven goals.
Red Hat Strong Performance is Good News for IBM Shareholders
Strong performance by Red Hat is good news for IBM shareholders, making IBM a more competitive player in the Hybrid IT space and significantly increasing the company’s ability to deliver open source software to enterprise in both hybrid and multi-cloud environments. I expect the acquisition to improve IBM’s status. While the price was steep, the company’s ability to grab both market share and the Red Hat community will likely both accelerate revenue and brand equity. All in all, I believe this was smart buy that I think will prove out over the next four quarters following the close of the acquisition.

HPE Discover 2019: HPE Goes All In With “Everything As A Service”
The highlight of HPE Discover 2019 is Antonio Neri’s promise that “HPE is going all in with everything-as-a-service.” Overall, I think the move is a bold one and that Antonio is making a strong play. and a commitment I believe that Antonio is making a strong play. With announcements in Storage, Intelligent Edge, and Hybrid Cloud (not all encompassing) all promising to “Greenlake” (short for as-a-service) their solutions, we can be certain that the company is committed to making the leap forward to being service led; and I am confident that this move will pay off, eventually.
Demand Grows for Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform
Demand continues to grow for Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform, and with good reason. Simplifying business applications, allowing customers to do more with their data (and more easily use that data), and AI, are key areas of focus. Additionally, Microsoft’s clear advantage is Azure. I expect Microsoft Business Applications + Azure Cloud to continue to serve as the foundation for companies looking to expedite their ambitions of transformation with data and AI.
Apple’s 5G Enabled Phones and … Going it Alone in Chips by 2022-23?
I have no doubt that Apple intends to own the entire supply chain and modems and then perhaps RF to follow. I am skeptical that they can execute in the timeline being provided. I would think 2024 or even 2025 is more reasonable, but let’s give them kudos for being bold. As an admitted fan of the Qualcomm modems, I think they could better divert resources elsewhere, but that isn’t Apple’s style.

Zoom Earnings — Crushing It, But There Are Big Hurdles Ahead
Zoom’s growth should be commended, as for the simplicity that they have brought to point-to-point desktop and mobile video. But I think their next hurdle is a big one and it will lead to slowed growth and a requirement to build more 3rd party integrations, improve their hardware stack and look beyond video for their ecosystem.
