Microsoft Beat Earnings, Smashes Revenue Estimates

In Technology News by Daniel NewmanLeave a Comment

Microsoft beat earnings and smashed revenue estimates in today’s earnings report. While a big deal was made by some of the Azure slowdown in growth, that is to be expected. Microsoft is a company that has momentum. For investors, they are a company that no matter how high the price of the stock goes, it’s hard to bet against them over the long term. I believe the Azure business will settle in and continue double-digit growthI do expect the Azure business to settle in and continue its significant double-digit growth, but hey, 40-70% YoY is a number everyone should feel good about.

IBM Red Hat Acquisition Nets First Payoff With AT&T Contract

In Cloud, Technology News by Shelly KramerLeave a Comment

The IBM Red Hat acquisition nets its first big payoff with AT&T strategic alliance, multi-year, multi-billion dollar contract. IBM’s move, acquiring Red Hat in order to be the hybrid multi-cloud platform out there, was smart. Hybrid multi-cloud is not only the reality of the enterprise today, it’s the reality of all businesses. Or they might be used in even more personal, and personally dangerous ways. It’s not really worth it for a few seconds of amusement, or amazement, or whatever it is, at what you might look like 50 years from now—is it?

DOJ Weighs In To Halt FTC and Koh’s Questionable Ruling Against Qualcomm

In Technology News by Daniel NewmanLeave a Comment

The DoJ has intervened to request a stay in the FTC ruling against Qualcomm, citing national security. This ruling against Qualcomm never made sense, and certainly did not make sense based upon what the FTC presented in its case. I feel strongly that the ruling will be paused to allow a deeper look on the security implications prior to the case being heard for appeal — it will be interesting to keep an eye on what happens next.

The race is on to drive eSIM ecosystem influence among the major players, particularly in upping the operator’s game, and Amdocs is squarely in the lead. Challenges aside, Amdocs is establishing a sales and marketing lead in the eSIM Cloud realm, at least in relation to telco software rivals Ericsson, Nokia Software, and Netcracker. This will be an interesting one to watch.
