The News: Mavenir, a Network Software Provider supplier of cloud-native software that runs on any cloud and seeks to transform the way the world connects, announces its complete Software as a Service (SaaS) based Business Communications portfolio, including customer engagement, business messaging, Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS), Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) and Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS). EC 2022: Mavenir Communicates New Business Communications Portfolio Capabilities

Analyst Take: Mavenir wisely used the recent Enterprise Communications 2022 event to promote its new Business Communications portfolio under the MAVbiz brand. The new MAVbiz portfolio includes the following solutions:

  • Mavenir Engage — Customer Engagement as a Service solution that combines multi-channel business messaging connectors (SMS, RCS, Apple Messages for Business, Google Business Messages) with business automations, chatbots, visual flow builder and campaign manager capabilities to enable conversational commerce capabilities aimed at businesses of all sizes.
  • Mavenir CPaaS — A full set of programmable application programming interfaces (APIs) and turnkey applications (Smart 2FA, Number Masking, Call Routing) that are developed to allow businesses and developers to integrate communication capabilities into business processes and applications.
  • Mavenir Connect — Unified Communication as a Service (UCaaS) solution that targets delivering a set of high-definition voice, video, messaging, and meetings capabilities to allow workers to collaborate with colleagues and connect with customers anywhere, anytime and on any device.
  • Mavenir Care — Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS) solution with omni-channel integrations, fopen APIs, business processes integrations (CRMs, AI platforms), visual IVR builder, and analytics and reporting.

The MavBiz unveiling follows on Mavenir’s August 2021 acquisition of Telestax, which squarely focused on augmenting Mavenir Engage, Mavenir’s omnichannel messaging monetization and customer engagement platform offerings. This included enabling communications service providers (CSPs), professional services organizations, and channel partners to use SaaS service models to better compete in the new digital economy as well as delivering specialization, flexibility, and simplicity that can meet the needs of businesses of all sizes across a broad spectrum of industry verticals.

Mavenir demonstrated timely integration of Telestax CPaaS capabilities through the swift assimilation of Restcomm API features into Mavenir Engage, enabling Mavenir to deliver the Customer Engagement as a Service solution that combines multi-channel business messaging connectors (SMS, RCS, Apple Messages for Business, Google Business Messages) with business automations, chatbots, visual flow builder and campaign manager capabilities to facilitate conversational commerce capabilities aimed at businesses of all sizes.

I anticipate that 5G service providers will accelerate their targeting of the SaaS-based Business Communications market, especially as the programmability capabilities embedded in the 5GC (5G Core) domain of 5G Standalone (SA) deployments gains more traction. As a result, 5G equipment suppliers will look to diversify and broaden their Business Communications portfolio as evidenced by Ericsson’s $6.2 billion acquisition of Vonage. With the deal, Ericsson is emphasizing the Vonage Communications Platform (VCP) as the key factor and centerpiece for entering into the agreement to acquire Vonage. The cloud based VCP serves over 120,000 customers and more than one million registered developers.

Ericsson is keen on using the API platform embedded in VCP to enable the developer community to assimilate Communication Platform as a Service (CPaaS) capabilities, such as video, voice, and messaging, into programmable networks, products, and applications without reliance on back-end infrastructure or interfaces.

Key Takeaways on Mavenir’s Business Communications Portfolio Debut

I anticipate that Business Communications Platforms, including CPaaS, are now integral to powering CSP, professional services/systems integrators, and channel differentiation objectives for selling into the full range of the enterprise space. As such, I view Mavenir’s Business Communications Solutions as now fulfilling the SaaS, CPaas, UCaaS, and CcaaS requirements for businesses of all sizes, ranging from micro, small and medium businesses to large enterprises, including especially across 5G environments.

This includes supporting CSPs and other channel partners in applying their own brand to the solutions and leveraging Mavenir’s professional services, white-label marketing collateral, business operations and partner ecosystem relationships to improve time-to-market and potentially expand overall subscriber growth.
